A nice glass of wine is a great way to end a long day of work at the office or from home.  It can also serve as an elegant dinner addition and for merely entertaining.  

Purchasing wine online and subscribing to wine ordering memberships reared its head last year, with most of the country staying at home.

Wine drinkers indeed joined the trend and convenience of getting their wine delivered at home or another location.

Now, with states approaching different phases of the coronavirus pandemic, you may want to venture out more and some traditional in-person shopping when selecting your wine.

Choosing to buy black does not have to limit your selection when buying wine at your local retailer. While most black-owned wines are available directly from the manufacturer’s website and other online retailers, you can still find a few brands at your local store.

The McBride Sisters

The McBride Sisters Collection, founded by sisters Robin and Andrea, brought us a melanin-rich brand called Black Girl Magic. These sisters grew up apart from one another in Monterey, California, and Marlborough, New Zealand, but their passion for wine brought them together in 2005 in California.

The Black Girl Magic collection carries Sparkling Brut, Merlot, Zinfandel, Riesling, Rose, and a Red Blend. The McBride Sisters have become the largest black-owned wine company in the United States and the most inclusive, easy to access, socially active, and sustainable. Black Girl Magic wine is sold at your local Target.

Heritage Link Brands

Selena Cuffe co-founded Heritage Link Brands with her husband Khary Cuffe in 2005 by Selena Cuffe after traveling to South Africa.

While in South Africa, she discovered that the majority black-populated country’s wine industry held less than two percent of Black owners.

This black-owned wine brand is known for having a global portfolio of award-winning wines and fair trade certified, sustainability, and women-owned brands. Heritage Link Brands wines can be found in stores across America like Walmart, Sam's Club, and Whole Foods.

Love Cork Screw Wines

Chrishon Lampley is a wine enthusiast and the founder of LCS Entertainment, LLC, which features Love Cork Screw wines. This black-owned wine brand is marketed as a lifestyle brand that launched six varietals several years ago in December 2013 in Chicago.

Some of the types of wine they sell are Pino Grigio, Sweet Riesling, and Vino Blanco.  According to their website, the LCS brand has obtained hundreds of locations since its launch.  These locations include Target, Whole Foods, World, and Walmart.

These are just a few black-owned wine brands that make their alcoholic beverages available in stores for your local shopping pleasure.

As previously mentioned, you will find that many black winemakers sell their wines directly from their website or through other online wine sellers.

You may not see all of these brands in local retailers in your state due to the shipping restrictions or preferences of the manufacturer. Just as you would your regular shopping, check on stock availability for these particular minority-owned brands before you take a drive to your local wine carrier.
